Special Issue: Updating Global Efforts to Promote and Secure First Responder Wellness - Table of Contents Preview

A special issue of the JCSWB focused on wellness within the policing sector will be published in February 2023. This issue aims to explore and build upon continued developments in the policies, practices, and knowledge bases for improving mental health and general wellness outcomes for police service employees, their families, and their CSWB partners.

Research published in this special issue will be highlighted at a JCSWB session at the Canadian Policing Wellness Check Conference, hosted by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police. The conference is being held March 6-8, 2023, in Ottawa, Ontario.

Publication of this special issue is made possible through the support received from Deloitte Inc. Thank you for your support in bringing this important and timely research to a global audience and for helping to share knowledge that will bring awareness and improvements to mental health and general wellness issues facing the policing community.

About the Canadian Policing Wellness Check Conference

The Canadian Policing Wellness Check Conference, hosted by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police is being held March 6-8, 2023 in Ottawa, Ontario, led, designed and moderated by Norman E. Taylor, Editor-in-Chief, JCSWB, in cooperation with several standing committees of the CACP and supported by the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC).

The over-arching goal of the conference is to establish a renewed national baseline upon which to build continued developments in the policies, practices, and knowledge bases for improving mental health and general wellness outcomes; to examine and remedy inequities experienced in wellness outcomes and available services; to restore momentum to the most promising prior initiatives; and, to highlight and advance innovative forward strategies based on new lessons learned.

A selection of papers published in JCSWB’s special wellness issue will drive and inform a Journal led session at the Wellness Check Conference.
